Reducing the Risk of Sexual Violence training has been developed by the Health Promotion Unit and run for students through the UWA Student Guild Leadership Program.
The 3 hour program, delivered by the Sexual Assault Resource Centre (SARC), aims to increase student understanding of what constitutes sexual violence, strategies to prevent sexual violence at student events and the correct procedure for responding to an incident of sexual violence by a peer.

Mental Health First Aid is the help provided to a person developing a mental health problem or in a mental health crisis. This first aid is given until appropriate professional treatment is received or until the crisis resolves.
Through this training, students and staff will develop a deeper understanding of common mental health problems and strategies to support those experiencing them.
The 12 hour Standard Mental Health First Aid course is an internationally accredited training program is delivered by the Health Promotion Unit. The program offered at no cost for enrolled UWA students.
The Blended Mental Health First Aid Course for tertiary comprises and e-learning component and face to face session. Mental Health First Aid Australia provides the e-learning component for a small fee that is subsidised for students. This course is free for eligible students. The UWA Health Promotion Unit provides the face to face component of this course at no cost to enrolled UWA students.

Mental Health Awareness Workshops have been developed by the Health Promotion Unit to support student wellbeing. The workshop contains two modules; Mental Health Awareness and Staying Well While Studying. Module one provides an overview of the most common mental health problems in Australia, anxiety and depression and support services on and off campus. In module two students discuss the importance of wellbeing while studying and practical strategies to cope with study related stress and improve wellbeing.
Workshops can be scheduled for student or staff groups on request.

Through the BAIT Program, students are trained to deliver brief alcohol interventions to their peers to encourage healthy reductions in alcohol consumption.
Students will then have the opportunity join the Peer Education Program to apply their skills at numerous events on campus and at the residential colleges.
Training sessions are delivered by UWA students who have experience delivering interventions at UWA.
