UWA students

Further information

Current UWA students can apply to study cross-institutionally at another Australian tertiary institution (including an offshore campus) for credit towards their UWA degree course.

If your application is approved by both institutions, upon successful completion you will be granted credit for these units towards your award course at UWA.

For more information refer to the University Policy on: Student Enrolment.

Application with UWA

To study cross-institutionally you must submit the Cross-institutional Enrolment Approval Form for UWA Students (below) and the unit descriptions or outline/s (from the Host Institution) to your UWA Student Advising Office.

Application periods

  • Semester One:  12 November 2018 - 9 March 2019
  • Semester Two:  12 November 2018 - 10 August 2019

Enrolment at UWA

Once your cross-institutional study is approved, you will need to request a Change of Enrolment form from your Student Advising Office in order to add the cross-institutional units to your UWA enrolment.

Remember, cross-insitutional units cannot be added online via studentConnect.

Application with your Host Institution

Once permission has been granted by UWA, you must apply to the Host University. Leave plenty of time to deal with administration at both universities and check the closing date for your application at the Host University. It is your responsibility to maintain an enrolment at both UWA and the Host Institution.

Fees

Your Host Institution determines your student contribution or fee liability for your cross-institutional units and you pay Fees to your Host Institution.

International students

If you are an international student, you may be able to undertake cross-institutional study at another Australian institution. Make sure that you check with the Host Institution that they accept international cross-institutional students and the fees involved. Contact UWA Student Administration for details.

Results

On completion of your cross-institutional study it is your responsibility to provide your UWA Student Advising Office with a formal Academic Transcript from your Host Institution, showing your results. Your Student Advising Office will then authorise the credit to be granted towards your UWA award course.

Please note: Students undertaking cross-institutional, student exchange or study abroad units in their final semester may not be able to graduate at the next end-of-semester graduation ceremony (July and December). Students must be able to provide UWA with their official formal academic record with finalised grades by the 'Course Requirements Completed' deadline advised by UWA Graduations.

Some Australian institutions will not have released their final results by that date, and those students will not be able to attend the next end-of-semester graduation ceremony. Students may choose to graduate at the next available monthly in-absentia ceremony, or delay graduation to the following ceremony.

July graduation: to be eligible to graduate in the July ceremonies, you must submit your official results from your Host University no later than 4 July 2019.

December graduation: to be eligible to graduate in the December ceremonies, you must submit your official results from your Host University no later than 2 December 2019.
