We are seeking current UniSkills and UniMentor volunteers to assist new international undergraduate students and encourage them to participate in programs and events that will enhance their first year at UWA.

Making contact

As a ConnectMe@UWA volunteer you will be assigned a number of new international students to contact (by text, skype, phone or email) to find out if they:

  • are aware of a number of services available to them and where they can find them, such as the Student Services Housing Office
  • have activated their student email
  • know about programs such as UniSkills and UniMentor
  • have registered for UniSkills and the networking events
  • have general questions about settling in to UWA
  • are interested in attending ConnectMe social events to enable them make new friends and discover what Perth has to offer.

Volunteers can use resources, such as computers or phones, provided by the ConnectMe@UWA staff. The nature of contact with students will be determined by your group's needs.

Excursions

You will be required to attend:

  • Excursions or bus trips organised by program staff
  • ConnectMe social events on campus.

Leaders make initial contact with program participants approximately one month prior to the start of each semester. We need your assurance that you will be available during this time period to be part of the progam.

ConnectMe Leaders must attend the New to Perth Tour prior to the beginning of semester to qualify for the program.

Leaders must register prior to the beginning of each semester to indicate participation in the program, even if they where previously an active leader.

Training

At a compulsory training session you will be given an overview of the program and what is required. Details are in the registration form.
