UWA helps international students transition smoothly to life as a university student with a range of programs, in particular, ConnectMe@UWA, that address the needs of international students specifically.
International Student Support have prepared pre-departure information for international students to help you with organising your departure, arriving in Perth and settling in at UWA.
The International Student Support team provides a wide range of services to international students with the aim of making them comfortable in a new study environment. As the first point of contact for international students, the International Student Adviser is available to assist with issues and concerns relating to your welfare throughout your studies at UWA.
In addition, our International Sponsored Students Unit provides support to the Australia Awards Scholarship students, as well as other international sponsored students.
All students starting university that are new to Perth (including International students) will be connected with other students prior to coming to UWA. Through the program you will be introduced to other new and existing UWA students. We will also help you connect to services and support to assist you to settle into your studies.
To be eligible for the program you need to be new to Perth and have accepted your offer to study at UWA. Before you arrive in Perth, a ConnectMe@UWA Mentor (current UWA student ) will get in contact with you by email. The Mentor will support your journey in starting to study at UWA, providing general information on life at the University and details of ConnectMe social events.
Through this program you will have the opportunity to attend further social and networking events and meet current students as well as new students.
Each semester, students can participate in social activities to enable them to meet other students and have some fun at the same time. These types of activities are open to international and local students and provide students with an opportunity to get away from their studies and spend some time with other students while exploring what Perth has to offer.
Social activities include free and low cost excursions which are available each semester and can include trips to Adventure World, Mullaloo Beach & Hillary's Boat Harbour, Perth Zoo, Perth City Tour, Ikea & Innaloo Shopping trip. Check the UniStart website for the currently scheduled excursions.
