The ConnectMe@UWA program facilitates engagement between international and domestic students through social activities and excursions.

ConnectMe to Perth

Each semester, students can participate in excursions to enable them to meet other students and have some fun at the same time, whilst exploring Perth and its surrounding areas.

Excursions include free and low cost trips which are available each semester and can include trips to Adventure World, Mullaloo Beach & Hillary's Boat Harbour, Perth Zoo, Perth City Tour, Ikea & Innaloo Shopping trip.

Scheduled Excursions - Semester 2, 2017

Perth City Walking Tour

Our amazing UniMentors and current UWA students who have returned from studying abroad have volunteered to take a walk with you around central Perth and Northbridge. They’ll show you some points of interest and help you get acquainted with our beautiful city. The tours will start in the Cultural Centre of Perth. The tour leaders will show you the main train and bus stations, shopping and entertainment precincts and other attractions along the way. If you’re lucky they may even share their secret coffee spots

Date: Tuesday, 25 July 2017

Time: Check in at 12:30pm, departing from UWA at 1:00pm

Departs Perth for UWA: 4:00 PM

  • Students to make own way from Perth back to UWA or home

Meeting point: Grassed area behind the tennis courts located between the UWA Sports Centre and the School of Music.

Perth Zoo Trip

This is a great chance to get up close and personal with Australian animals on the ‘Australian Bushwalk’. You’ll find Dingos, Quokkas, Kangaroos and many more aussie creatures! You’ll also find priority species for the Asian, African and South American regions including favourites such as the penguins, orangutans and meerkats.

Departs Perth Zoo for UWA: 1:00 PM

Meeting point: Grassed area behind the tennis courts located between the UWA Sports Centre and the School of Music.

Ikea Shopping Trip & Kings Park Photo Opportunity

Its late night shopping at IKEA so why not come and explore with us! Students new to Perth find this a convenient and worthwhile trip to pick up essentials to take some stress out of settling in to your new accommodation. In the past students have picked up everything from desks, clothes drying racks, washing baskets, indoor plants and mattresses! If you're hungry you'll also be able to grab a bite to eat at the IKEA restaurant. On the way back to UWA you will have an opportunity to take picture of the lights of city of Perth from Kings Park.

Hillarys Boat Harbour & Swan Valley Trip

The first part of this trip will be a quick tour of the *Swan Valley region of Perth Located about 20 kilometres north east from the CBD. We'll stop at some renowned artisan food spots in the Swan Valley including a chocolate factory and coffee roaster. You'll be able to sample and purchase some delicious food produced in the Swan Valley as we go.
 
The second part of this trip will be Hillarys Boat Harbour, located about 22 kilometres north from the Perth CBD. Located at Hillarys you'll find the Southern Hemisphere's largest Aquarium, AQWA as well as many places to eat lunch and shop.
 
*Please note - we will not be stopping at any wineries. If you'd like to go to the aquarium, concession price is $22, just show your student ID for the discount.

ConnectMe to Social Activities

    Each semester, students can participate in social activities to enable them to meet other students and have some fun at the same time. These types of activities are open to international and local students and provide students with an opportunity to get away from their studies and spend some time with other.

    These social activities include, UniMentor Quiz Nights, lawn games, scavenger hunts, movie nights and more.

    UniMentor Quiz Night

    Come along with your UniMentor and fellow mentees to the UniMentor Quiz Night. This a great opportunity to meet other students and compete for prizes.

    Time: Arrive 4:45pm, Quiz runs from 5:00pm - 8:00pm

    Venue: UWA Water Sports Complex.
