If you are likely to be hindered in your examination or test performance because of your disability or medical condition, you can apply for alternative exam arrangements or special consideration.
These may involve extra time, the use of specialised equipment or other accommodations based on need.
Make an appointment with a disability officer as soon as possible so that arrangements can be made to meet your examination or assessment schedule.
Applying for alternative exam arrangements
- Arrange an appointment with a UniAccess disability officer as soon as you can by calling Student Services on (+61 8) 6488 2423. Applications for alternative exam arrangements should be submitted no less than four weeks before the exam period.
- Bring appropriate and current relevant medical documents or other evidence of your condition to your appointment. If you do not have documentation, have your medical practitioner complete a Medical Practitioner’s Report (see below).
- If you are issued with alternative exam arrangements:
- Check the exam timetable when it is released on studentConnect for starting times and venues.
- Additional time approved under alternative exam arrangements will not appear on this website, however the exam supervisor will be aware of your additional time.
- Your exams will be located in an alternative to the main exam venue.
- Any discrepancies between what has been approved and what is on your exam timetable should be reported by email to the examinations officer.
- For all mid semester, laboratory, practical exams and tests, students with alternative exam arrangements should present their signed form to their unit coordinator at least two weeks before the test. Contact UniAccess for specialised assistance, software or equipment for these assessments.
- Ensure that you have indicated on your enrolment / re-enrolment on studentConnect that you have a disability or medical condition.
- If your situation changes and your alternative exam arrangements are no longer appropriate, make another appointment with a disability officer.
Special consideration
Special consideration is different to alternative exam arrangements. It applies to students who think their study has been severely affected by serious illness or other factors.
