How to make an appointment

UWA's Counselling and Psychological Services uses a triage system to ensure a services that is efficient, responsive and best suited to the needs of students.

All new clients will need to complete the triage process before their first appointment. If you have seen a counsellor at UWA in a previous year you will also need to complete the triage process.

A triage session will last about 20 mins and will cover a brief overview of your current situation and the issues you are facing. This will allow the triage counsellor to assess the urgency and complexity of your situation. At the end of the triage session the counsellor will either schedule you a counselling appointment or offer other suitable suggestions for services that would be helpful for you. Please not that if further counselling sessions are suggested, they may not be with the counsellor you say for the triage session.

Triage appointment times

If you wish to access our service, please come to Student Support Services Reception at the listed times below. You will be allocated the next available time and may have to wait or come back to attend your triage appointment. When you first come to reception you will be required to fill out a self-assessment form. This form must be completed prior to your triage appointment. Please arrive 15 minutes before your allocated triage appointment. If you are not present at your allocated triage time your appointment maybe give to another student. You will also be required to read and sign our confidentiality statement.
