Practicum hosts

Further information

  • Apply for Arts Practicum
  • Previous hosts
  • Washington internship

You can undertake your practicum with a host organisation in Australia or overseas. Hosts can vary from the West Australian to the Department of Premier and Cabinet to Rio Tinto and can be matched to your interests.

Host organisations

You can research possible host organisations and pursue your own contacts and placements with the understanding that final approval and liaison will be undertaken by the Arts Practicum coordinator. You should not, however, contact previous hosts.

If you don't have any organisations in mind, the application process provides links to focus your research on industries and occupations that that will match your interests.

The type of work varies depending on your skills, the organisation where you are placed and the project you undertake. Ideally, you should indicate the kind of work you want to do on your expression of interest form (such as, writing, research, web design, policy development.)

Overseas practicum

You can research international placement opportunities:

Once you have enough details, make an appointment with the Arts practicum coordinator to discuss if it satisfies the criteria.

Overseas exchange

If you are studying overseas for a semester, you might consider organising an international practicum before or after your exchange program. It is up to you to organise your placement, although it must be approved by the Arts Practicum coordinator.

Previous hosts

Check out previous host organisations; however, do not approach them without approval of the Arts Practicum coordinator.
