When will I be invoiced?

The UWA Student Services and Amenities Fee is invoiced in instalments to assist students managing a limited budget. The cycle of invoicing is determined by your study pattern. Initial eSOA (Electronic Statement of Account) for the first instalment of the annual fee will be issued in January, 2019 for Trimester 1, and February 2019 for Semester 1. 

eSOA (Electronic Statement of Account) for the second and third instalments of Trimester 2 and 3 will be issued in April/July 2019.  The second instalment for Semester 2, 2019 will be issued in late July.

A reminder email notice will be issued if payments are outstanding after the due date on the invoice.

  • FE-XT1 (1 April, 2019)
  • FE-XS1 (1 June, 2019)
  • FE-XT2 (1 July, 2019)
  • FE-XS2 (1 November, 2019)
  • FE-XT3 (1 November, 2019)

Paying your SSAF invoice

Full details of how to pay the UWA Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF) are provided on our electronic Statement of Account (eSOA) available studentConnect. The following payment methods are available:

  • cash, EFTPOS, personal / bank cheque or money order (drawn from an Australian bank in Australian dollars): present your Statement of Account at any Australia Post agency. Make your cheques / money order payable to 'Australia Post'
  • credit card: You can make your payment by MasterCard or Visa. You can telephone (61) 13 18 16 or access Postbillpay.
  • BPay: Payment via internet or phone banking from your cheque or savings account.

Your eSOA PDF contains your unique reference codes to allow you to pay via BPay or Postbillpay (via Australia Post).

Can I defer payment of the fee?

Eligible students who do not want to pay the UWA Student Services and Amenities Fee upfront, can request an SA-HELP loan from the Commonwealth.  To request assistance, complete the online application available on studentConnect before the fee period payment due dates.

The amount of the loan will be added to your accumulated HELP debt. An eligible student is able to take out a SA-HELP loan to pay the UWA Student Services and Amenities Fee even if they do not wish to take out any other HELP loan (see Who is eligible for SA-HELP?).

Who is eligible for SA-HELP?

Students who are Australian citizens, or a New Zealand Special Category Visa (NZ SCV) holder who meets the long term residency requirements, or a permanent Humanitarian visa holder enrolled in a course of study and be studying part of the course in Australia are eligible for SA-HELP.

Cross-institutional students together with Australian permanent residents (other than holders of a permanent humanitarian visa), New Zealand citizens (other than SCVs) and international student visa holders are not eligible for SA-HELP and cannot defer payment.

Can somebody else pay on my behalf?

Yes, the UWA Student Services and Amenities Fee invoice can be paid by anyone on your behalf. Using BPAY and Australia Post facilities the University is able to capture data that identifies for whom the payment was made, thus ensuring the money is deposited against your account.

Unfortunately, however, the University is not able at this time to issue invoices to third parties or to sponsors without prior arrangement. If your University fees and charges are paid by a sponsor, and you make the payment, you should ask them to reimburse your expenditure and provide a copy of your University invoice together with a receipt (see What if I can't afford to pay?).

Non-payment of fee

If you have not paid your UWA Student Services and Amenities Fee instalment invoice by the due date an encumbrance will be applied to your record which will prevent you viewing your results on studentConnect, obtaining any documentation from Student Administration including a Statement of Academic Record (transcript), re-enrolling and / or graduating.

You are encouraged not to leave payment right to the last moment as processing of payments takes five working days.

What if I can't afford to pay?

If you cannot afford to pay your UWA Student Services and Amenities Fee by the due date due to financial hardship, eligible students (Australian citizens, permanent humanitarian visa holders resident in Australia and New Zealand Special Category Visa holders who meet the long term residency requirements) can request assistance from the Commonwealth and defer the fee through the SA-HELP scheme.

Financial assistance for students in genuine financial hardship may also be available from the Guild.
