Under the Higher Education Funding Act 1988, institutions are legally required to provide a Notice of Liability to all students who undertook a designated course of study before 2005.
Notices are not required for international students, students who were enrolled in enabling courses, or domestic fee-paying students (although UWA has opted to provide notices to the latter group).
Notices were issued electronically on the Student Access web page, and students were notified by email, unless a request for hardcopy documents was lodged at Student Administraton.
An amended Notice of Liability can be issued to students if there has been a change in their enrolment after the issue of the original notice or an error has been made in the original notice.
